Ten years ago, in 2015, we met on a cruise. Samantha was there on a family trip, and Doug was traveling with friends. Those friends met Sam, introduced her to Doug, and the connection was immediate.
Back home (Miami for Sam and Pittsburgh for Doug) we kept in touch through long-distance calls and occasional visits. Over the next year, our connection grew stronger, and those trips became more frequent. Before long, we made it official.
In 2018, Doug crammed his life into a backpack and a few boxes, and flew down to move into their first apartment in Miami. We found jobs, explored the city, and continue traveling.
In the summer of 2022, on top of the Flat Iron Mountains Doug finally proposed.
